Only senior citizens of Indian Nationality, permanently residing in the country will be granted concession, Ministry of Railways said on Monday.

The ministry has modified the existing concession rule for the senior citizens.  As per the new rule, senior citizens of foreign nationals and NRIs will not be admissible to concession in Railways. 

The rule had come into effect from 29 September, 2016.

"A Senior Citizen of Indian Nationality, permanently residing in India of the age of 60 years and above for men senior citizen and 58 years and above in case of women senior citizen shall only be eligible for concession in passenger fare", the Ministry said. 

As per the Railways' rule, the element of concession in all classes for men is 40% and for women is 50%. The concession is also valid in all classes of Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Duronto trains.
