Schools closed in Bhopal: Schools have been closed in Bhopal today due to heavy rains. Heavy rains in the past two days have affected normal life in the capital city of Madhya Pradesh and other parts of the state.

The IMD has sounded alert for heavy rain in Bhopal, Jabalpur and Narmadapuram divisions for the next 24 hours. The weather department has predicted a continued spell of rain for the next two days. 

Earlier on Tuesday, the state administration warned that a flood-like situation could emerge in areas near the catchment area of Narmada and Tawa and other rivers.

IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Alijapur and Rajgarh. Besides, heavy rainfall alert has also been sounded in districts -- Ujjain, Ratlam, Shajapur, Raisen, Guna, Ashoknagar and Morena.

The IMD said under the influence of likely formation of low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal around August 19, fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall is likely to lash the Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh.
