New Delhi: The Country's largest commercial bank, State bank of India has issued some guidelines to protect its customers from card skimming frauds. As credit card, debit card, ATM cards and banking frauds are on the rise, the bank has decided to work upon it. SBI has sent a mail to each of its customer, warning them to remain safe from these frauds. The lender has warned the cardholders of skimming frauds.

Card skimming is a crime of copying data\details of a credit, debit or ATM card illegally. The bank has changed all the old cards with the new ones, as the older ones had EMV chip, while the new cards are made with magstripe. However, it is still possible for fraudulents to commit card skimming acts. 

The guidelines issued by SBI, to avoid card frauds:

1. Never give your SBI Card to any of your relative or friend, don't even the staff members of the company.

2. Make sure you hide your password, while you are in ATM or doing an online transacation. 

3. Swipe your card, yourself.

4. Don't forget to take your card back after completing the transaction. 

5. Do not share your passwords, PIN, OTP, CVV and net banking user ID or any other details with anyone. 

In case of an unknown or fraudulent transaction in your account or you can call 24x7 SBI call centre to inform the bank. You can also write an email to customercare@sbicard.com or send an SMS “Problem” to 9212500888. Always contact the bank through their official Twitter handle, as it compels the bankers to take action fast. If still not resolved with the problem, please visit the nearest bank branch or your home branch asap to report the fraudulent transaction.
