India's retail inflation or Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 2.36% in July 2017 as against 1.46% in June 2017 and 6.07% in July 2016.

Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, on Monday, said that the Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) dropped to -0.29% in July 2017 as against 8.35% in the same month of last year. CFPI, however, rose from -2.12% in June 2017. 

Rural CFPI rose 0.07% as against a drop of -0.99% in urban areas. 

Data further showed that retail inflation in eggs, vegetables, pulses and spices dropped -2.04%, -3.57%, -24.75% and -1.67%, respectively. 

CPI inflation in clothing, footwear, housing and fuel rose 4.34%, 3.53%, 4.98% and 4.86%, respectively.
