With all these questions Zee Business conducted a poll. What do the economists think about RBI policy? What is the result of that poll, Senior Research Analyst Varun Dubey explains-

Q) Will the RBI increase their rate?
A)
The 100% of the people said no, RBI will not increase the rate.

Q) Will there be any change in reverse repo rate?
A)
35% of the people participated in the poll said yes. A tweak of 10-20 basis points may be seen in the reverse repo rate. while the majority i.e., 65% of the people believe that maybe RBI should not make any changes here too.   

Q) Will the rates rise in the future? If yes how much?
a. 10-15 bps
b. 15-25 bps
c. 25-50 bps

A) The majority goes with the third option. 70% of the people thinks a rate hike of around 25-50 bps will be seen in the calendar year 2022.
10-15 bps - 5%
15-25 bps - 25%
25-50 bps - 70%

Q) Will the accommodative stance continue?
A)
85% of the participants said yes, the stance of RBI is going to stay accommodative.
Yes - 85%
No - 15%

Q) If the repo rate is not hiking now, then when will it increase?
a. Q1FY23
b. Q2FY23

A) The majority thinks that the repo rate will hike in Q1FY23 by RBI.
a. Q1FY23 - 90%
b. Q2FY23 - 10%

Q) Will there be any change on GDP estimates?
A)
70% of the participants go with yes, RBI may make some changes in GDP estimates. While 30% of them said no.

Q) Will the Consumer Price Index estimates change?
A
) Majority (75% of the participants) said no, RBI will not tweak in this aspect. While 25% believes there might be some changes.
