Travelling is a rushed experience from the moment you decide to take a trip. From making a list of things to pack to booking a ticket on an Indian Railways train, the process is one big blur as travellers rush to meet the deadline. Mistakes, therefore, can be easily made. One such mistake, that is often made, is while booking IRCTC e-ticket. To change name of a passenger on e-ticket requires you to approach the nearest Railway reservation office. The passenger has to show the electronic reservation slip and original identity proof.  However, the passenger will have to visit the Railway reservation office at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. To change name, the request has to come from the passenger who booked the e-ticket. This rule is also applicable to the tickets booked directly through Indian Railways counters.

IRCTC has a 24/7 customer support team which looks after customers' post booking queries and gives you all the information you need, the online ticketing company said on Twitter. However, travellers should know that this process can be a big drag and can cause them  lot of frustrations and wasted time.
