Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has ordered to lift weekend restrictions and night curfew. However, he has allowed gatherings of 100 indoors and 200 outdoors from Monday, July 12.

The Chief Minister also ordered the opening of bars, cinema halls, restaurants, spas, swimming pools, gyms, malls, sports complexes, museums, zoos, etc., with staff members and visitors have taken at least one dose each of the vaccines.

Although schools will continue to remain closed. But colleges, coaching centers, and all other institutions of higher learning will be allowed to open with vaccine certificates.

At the same time, the CM has directed the Director-General of Police to fine all political leaders violating Covid behavior rules while holding rallies and protest meetings, according to IANS 

Even as he hoped that better sense will prevail on the political parties and leaders brazenly violating curbs by holding massive protests, he asked DGP Dinkar Gupta to issue challans against those indulging in anti-Covid behaviour, as per IANS.  

“Due to continuous & rapid rise of #Covid19 cases in Punjab, Cabinet today has decided to impose daily lockdown from 6 PM to 5 AM and weekend lockdown from Friday 6 PM to Monday 5 AM. Urge you all to stay at home & step out only if absolutely necessary. Seek your full cooperation,” Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh earlier tweeted while imposing the weekend lockdown in April this year.
