Usually price of flowers in Dadar market are 20 orchids for Rs 250, 20 roses for Rs 80 and marigold at Rs 40 per kg and now as per the latest  rates on Sunday price hike shows almost 20% hike -  Orchids were for Rs 300 per bunch, roses for Rs 120 per bunch and marigold for Rs 60 per kg.

Reason for the price hike was the petrol price hike which will indirectly effect the product rate but the truth was something different. As per the vendors it seems that if at all there is inflation in the rates, it is because of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations which is a this week.

The secretary of Dadar flower market Pandurang Amle said, “This market receives flowers from all over Maharashtra and Karnataka. While we receive marigold from the state itself, other flowers like Mogra come from Karnataka. Even if there is a price hike, the transport guys will inform the farmers about the same which will prompt them to sell their flowers at a higher price. The rest in the chain will follow.”
