Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited investment as well as technology, while speaking during the 15th India-EU (virtual) summit. PM Modi said that attention needs to be given to both short term as well as long term targets. PM Modi addressed the India-EU summit via video conferencing. The summit was aimed at strengthening the ties between India and the European Union on a number of areas such as trade, defence, investment to name a few.

“Apart from current challenges, long-term challenges like climate change also a priority for India and the EU. In our efforts to increase the use of renewable energy in India, we invite investment and technology from Europe,” PM Modi said. 

He added that it was good to come together through virtual medium as the usual summit was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. 

"We had to cancel India-EU summit in March due to #COVID19. It is good that we are able to come together today through virtual medium," the prime minister said.

He added that India the EU are natural partners. PM Modi said that this partnership is significant for the peace and stability of the world. This reality has become even more clear in the global situation today. 

President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen were heading the EU delegation during the summit.

“We would like to thank India for the cooperation your country has shown with the EU. I would like to pay tribute to your role nationally and internationally, multilaterally in combating COVID19 pandemic,” European Council President Charles Michel said, during India-EU Summit.
