Petrol, diesel prices today: There is no let down in prices of petrol and diesel as it continues to soar. In another hike, oil marketing companies increased the fuel prices for the 11th consecutive day on Friday. After new hike, petrol will cost you Rs 90 per litre in Delhi, while diesel prices also crossed Rs 80 per litre.

After petrol price was hiked by 31 paise and diesel by 33 paise, new petrol price in Delhi stands at Rs 90.19 per litre, while diesel is costing Rs 80.60 per litre.  

With the increase in fuel prices for the 11th consecutive day, Petrol prices in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata now stand at Rs 96.62, Rs 92.25, 91.41 respectively. Similarly, diesel prices are Rs 87.67, 85.63, 84.19 in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata respectively.  

Central government makes up for Rs 32.98 per litre of the price of petrol in Delhi and sales tax or VAT of the state government constitutes Rs 19.55.

For diesel, the central excise adds up to Rs 31.83 and VAT to Rs 10.99. Besides, the price also includes a dealer commission of a minimum Rs 2.6 per litre on petrol and Rs 2 on diesel.  

Petrol and diesel prices are revised on a daily basis in line with benchmark international price and foreign exchange rates.
