Parameswaran Iyer has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Niti Aayog, as per the official notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on Friday.  He has been appointed for two years or until further orders, the government notification said.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment as the new Niti Aayog CEO.

He will replace Amitabh Kant who is currently the CEO of this government think tank. Kant will be retiring on June 30, 2022. 

The DoPT notification said that Iyer's appointment has been made on the "same terms and conditions" as were applicable for Kant.

Parameswaran Iyer is a former Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary and a 1981-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He had taken voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service in 2009, PTI said.
