Now, applicants have to submit only Aadhaar number or enrolment number, a self-declaration document and any 2 identification documents of the 12 listed.

The valid documents listed include Permanent Account Number (PAN) card, Bank or Kisan or Post Office passbook.

The passport will be processed and issued within 3 days and the police verification will be carried out after the passport has been dispatched.

In the earlier system, authorities would issue passports after police varifications only.
