Air India's wholly owned subsidiary, Alliance Air has linked Belgaum to Bengaluru with an ATR 72 aircraft. Lok Sabha MO Suesh Angadi flagged off the first flight from Belgaum to Bengaluru today along with  Regional Director Southern Region Air India, MV Joshi, CEO Alliance Air CS Subbiah and senior Air India officials.

The flight will operate three times a week in this route on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. According to a report by India Today, at 15:40 hours flight 9I 513 will depart Bengaluru and will reach Belgaum at 1705 hrs. the same flight will depart from Belgaum, also known as the 'Sugar Bowl of Karnataka' and will reach Bengaluru at 1845 hrs on Tuesdays.

For Wednesdays and Saturdays, the schedule for the flight will be like this: depart from Bengaluru at 1410 hrs and arrive in Belgaum at 1535 hrs again the flight will leave Belgaum at 1605 hrs and will arrive in Bengaluru at 1725 hrs on Saturdays.

This now route by Alliance Air will bost  Air India's 'Connect India' mission.

Previously, Spice Jet used to operate a single flight on this route but the airline has terminated it recently and the Bengaum airport has remained unused since then.
