The 30-share BSE index Sensex opened 166.94 points higher at 39,998.91 against the previous close of 39,831.97. while the 50-share NSE index Nifty opened 45.9 points higher at 11,991.80 against the previous close of 11,945.90, and later rose above 12,000 level. At 09:17 hrs IST, the Nifty was up 60.40 points or 0.51% at 12006.30, while Sensex was up 149.96 points or 0.38% at 39981.93. Notably, about 530 shares have advanced, 311 shares declined, and 46 shares remain unchanged.

On Thursday, equity indices closed in the green with modest gains on steady buying demand in index pivotals. However, there were certain stocks that came in news after the market was closed on the day and are likely to impact the indices on Friday.

According Zee Business TV, these stocks include Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Limited, Lupin Limited, Jet Airways, GMR Infrastructure and Insecticides (India) Limited. 

In the early trade, some of the major gainers on the indices include Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, JSW Steel, Coal India, HPCL, Berger Paints, IndiGo and Tata Steel, while losers are ONGC, HUL, and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

On Thursday, the 30-share gauge ended 329.92 points, or 0.84 per cent, higher at 39,831.97 -- its fresh-closing high, while the broader NSE Nifty settled at a new closing peak of 11,945.90, gaining 84.80 points or 0.71 per cent.

Top gainers in the Sensex pack include Asian Paints, Coal India, TCS, ONGC, HCL Tech, L&T, Axis Bank, SBI and IndusInd Bank, rising up to 3 per cent, while Yes Bank, Tata Motors, NTPC, Vedanta, M&M and RIL were the top losers, shedding up to 0.32 per cent.
