Top 5 gainers on Nifty at the time of opening were GAIL, UPL, ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation and Kotak Mahindra Bank while top losers were Hindalco Industries, HCL Technologies, Nestle India, Bharat Petroleum and Vedanta Limited
The Nifty on Monday opened at 12102 while Sensex at 41143 flat from the previous close on Wednesday. On Friday, the Nifty ended the day at 12,098.35 levels while Sensex closed at 41,141.85. Reversing its rising streak for four consecutive sessions, market indices Sensex and Nifty took to bearish trend on Friday, closing down the day 0.40% each. The markets took negative cues from overseas markets too. The markets saw heavy selling pressure in banking, auto and realty stocks. Nifty50 closed almost 50 points lower while the BSE 30-share S&P Sensex closed 164 points.
