Not many are aware that a Permanent Account Number (PAN) card can be availed even for your children below 18 years. In fact, the Income Tax department allows parents or guardians to apply for a new PAN card for a minor. The PAN card of a child can be required for several reasons including investment purposes. If a minor does not have a PAN card, then banks or other financial institutions do not allow any investment in his or her name. According to the Income Tax Act, one of the parents or guardians can apply for a PAN card for minor. In this case, documents of both parent, guardians and minor will be required. The proof of identity and address involves details like Aadhaar number, ration card, passport, voter id, driving license, pension card, passbook and electricity bills, among others.
