On Monday, NCW tweeted from its official Twitter handle, "Launching tomorrow on July 27! @NCWIndia's country-wide helpline number 7827 170 170 for providing emergency response to women affected by violence. The helpline will provide round-the-clock information & support to women seeking help."
Today Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of NCW tweeted about the launch of the 24X7 helpline from her official Twitter handle. She tweeted, "Launching 24x7 helpline of @ncwIndia was done earlier today. Thank you @smritiirani and Secratery @MinistryWCD for giving you valuable time and sharing your views on this occasion."
The helpline was launched earlier today by Union Minister Smriti Irani and WCD Secretary Indevar Pandey.
NCW's 24X7 helpline number 7827170170 aims to provide round-the-clock counselling and support services to women affected by violence.
As per an ANI report, the helpline aims to facilitate an integrated range of services for women affected with violence under one roof such as help from police, psychosocial counselling and access to One Stop Centres among other services.
It has to be noted that the round-the-clock helpline has been developed in collaboration with Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The ANI report further states that the NCW under statutory mandate has been looking into complaints under several categories of violence and deprivation of women rights across the country. These complaints are received either online on the website or through writing. In order to strengthen and expand the complaint platform, the NCW took the decision to launch this helpline.
The helpline will function with a team of trained experts. Any girl or woman aged 18 years and above can seek help by calling this helpline.
