Monsoon has hit the financial capital of India and it is in full swing. Mumbai is awash in water and the citizens of Maximum city are witnessing disruption of various transport services and are struggling to reach their destinations or just opting to stay at home. The travellers and commuters are not just having delays with local trains or flights, the continuous heavy rains have slowed the city of dreams.

Mahesh Palawat, Skymet Weather told Zee Business TV that Mumbai is expected to have heavy-rainfall in some parts, while few areas will likely to have low intensity rainfall today as compared to yesterday. Though some areas may also have short spells of rainfall with a time gap of 30-40 minutes. North Mumbai is looking mostly affected by rains today, however July 4 and July 5 will have heavier rains again in Mumbai.

Reportedly, over 25 people have been killed in rain-related incidents in Mumbai and Pune, with heavy rains forcing authorities to declare a public holiday today to ensure safety of Mumbaikars. At least 18 people were killed and six others injured after a compound wall in Pimpripada of Malad East area collapsed  at 2: 00 am on Tuesday, due to heavy rains in Malad area here, NDRF officials said.

One of the busiest airports in India, Mumbai airport Tuesday saw as many as 319 arrivals and departures delayed within a 12-hour period. Notably, flight delay numbers are increasing. According to the Mumbai airport website, 163 flight were delayed during departures including both domestic and international airlines. Majority of flights were delayed between 06 AM till 09 AM. 

The situation will not be stable for next few days, though there will be low intensity rainfall in some areas. The commuters and residents of Mumbai will witness issues like water logging, traffic jams, train and flight delays for coming week, added Palawat. 

Parts of Mumbai have received around 100 mm rainfall since Monday morning, affecting trains and the road traffic in the city. Several flights and trains have been cancelled so far, while the situation is not looking stable for a while now.
