Mumbai Airport weather update today: India's financial capital, Mumbai is facing a tough monsoon season this year, with a lot of issues being faced by residents and travellers to and from the city. The heavy rains on Monday disrupted the road and rail traffic and halted flight operations at Mumbai airport (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport). That things were really bad is clear from the fact that there were around 20 mm rainfall in just three hours starting 8.30 am, according to an IMD official.

Operations at the Mumbai airport were suspended in the morning due to heavy rains, and because of this the airport operator had to divert three city-bound flights.  

Though the runway operations at the Mumbai airport remained suspended for nearly 20 minutes from 9.12 am due to heavy rains but there were no flights that were cancelled today, on June 9. 

The Mumbai municipal corporation, BMC also said that it regrets the inconvenience caused to Mumbai residents due to heavy rains in the city.  

BMC Tweeted, "Dear Mumbaikars, the city has experienced heavy rainfall in the last couple of hours, especially in the eastern suburb. We regret all the inconvenience that has showered along. But the intensity is on decline now & our teams will try to pump out logged water as soon as possible.''

IndiGo Airlines tweeted the travel advisory for Mumbai passengers, ''Request all passengers to check for delays due to heavy rains in #Mumbai. For flight status, visit http://www.goindigo.in or send an SMS ST <flight no.><flight date> as DDMM, e.g. for flight 6E-333 for Jul 08, send ST 333 0807 to 566772,'' the airlines said. 

SpiceJet also tweeted the advisory,''#WeatherUpdate Due to bad weather at Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights might get affected. The passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via book.spicejet.com''
