Mulayam Singh Yadav death news: Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on Monday, October 10. He took his last breath at the age of 82 at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. His son and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav tweeted about his demise.

"My respected father and everyone's leader is no more," Akhilesh tweeted in Hindi.

He was admitted to the hospital on August 22 after he complained of difficulty in breathing. On October 2, the leader was shifted to the ICU where he was on life-saving drugs. He breathed his last at 8.15 a.m. on Monday, news agency IANS reported citing hospital sources.

1. PM Narendra Modi
Condoling Mulayam Singh Yadav's demise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was a remarkable personality. "He was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader who was sensitive to people's problems," Modi said.

"I had many interactions with Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji when we served as Chief Ministers of our respective states. The close association continued and I always looked forward to hearing his views. His demise pains me. Condolences to his family and lakhs of supporters. Om Shanti," PM Modi tweeted.

2. UP CM Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state BJP President Bhupendra Chaudhary reached Saifai on Monday evening and offered floral tributes to the mortal remains of Mulayam Singh Yadav. They also spoke to family members including SP President Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav.

3. Former PM Manmohan Singh
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condoled Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's demise, and said he was an icon of the socialist movement who devoted his whole life to the service of the poor and other backward communities. In a letter to Yadav's son Akhilesh expressing his condolences, Singh said the SP patriarch was a leader of high esteem who was respected by everybody irrespective of party lines.

4. Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condoled the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav and paid floral tribute to the portrait of the SP patriarch.

5. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia
"Mulayam Singh Yadav spent his life as a public servant and in service of the country and his demise is a loss for the whole nation," Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said. Also, he prayed and wished for strength and patience to his family.

6. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the death of the Samajwadi Party leader was a colossal loss to Indian politics. "My condolences to @yadavakhilesh ji, family, friends and followers, who are all anguished at the passing away of Neta ji", Sarma tweeted.

7. Former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the demise of the Samajwadi Party supremo and said that he upheld Hindu-Muslim brotherhood and stood against communal forces.
