In a major milestone, PM Narendra Modi-led government's ambitious PM-Kisan scheme has completed two years. "The PM-Kisan scheme, launched with an aim to ensure a life of dignity and  prosperity for  farmers has completed two years," a PIB statement said.

Tenacity and passion of our farmers is inspiring

In a series of tweets, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "On this day, 2 years ago the PM-Kisan scheme was launched with an aim to ensure a life of dignity as well as prosperity for our hardworking farmers, who work day and night to keep our nation fed. The tenacity and passion of our farmers is inspiring."
Many initiatives for transforming agriculture

In another tweet, PM Narendra Modi added, "Over the last 7 years, the Government of India has taken many initiatives for transforming agriculture. From better irrigation to more technology, more credit and markets to proper crop insurance, focus on soil health to eliminating middlemen, the efforts are all-encompassing."

Doubling the income of farmers

PM Narendra Modi further added, "Our Government had the honour of ushering a historic increase in MSP. We are doing everything possible to double the income of farmers."

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Food Processing Industries, Narendra Singh Tomar awarded the top-performing States and Districts for their exemplary work with respect to the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme on Wednesday. The Minister distributed the awards during an event in New Delhi organized to celebrate the 2nd-year completion of the PM-KISAN scheme. The states/UTs were awarded based on the criteria such as correction of data, addressing farmer grievances, timely physical verification exercise etc.
