In a major development, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) on Monday said that telecom companies will have to offer vouchers with a validity of 30 days. "Every Telecom Service Provider shall offer at least one Plan Voucher, one Special Tariff Voucher and one Combo Voucher which shall be renewable on the same date of every month and if the date of such renewal is not available in a month, the date of renewal shall be the last date of that month," the telecom regulator said in a release. These companies will also have to offer at least one Plan Voucher, one Special Tariff Voucher and one Combo Voucher that will be renewable on the same date of every month.

The decision comes after several consumers expressed concern over the 28 days' validity of vouchers offered by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs). Following the due consultation process, TRAI inserted sub-clauses vide Telecom Tariff (66th and 67th Amendment) Order, 2022.

"30 days vouchers and vouchers renewable on the same date of every month are, inter-alia, available on their website and are open for subscription," the release reads.

Below are the details of vouchers offered by different telecom companies:

Airtel: Plan Voucher of 30 days - Rs 128 and Plan Voucher renewal on the same date of every month - Rs 131.

BSNL: Plan Voucher of 30 days - Rs 199 and Plan Voucher renewal on the same date of every month - Rs 229.

MTNL: Plan Voucher of 30 days - Rs 151 and Plan Voucher renewal on the same date of every month - Rs 97.

Reliance Jio: Plan Voucher of 30 days - Rs 296 and Plan Voucher renewal on the same date of every month - Rs 259.

Vodafone Idea (Vi): Plan Voucher of 30 days - Rs 137 and Plan Voucher renewal on the same date of every month - Rs 141.
