The Indian equity markets ended the week with gains as BSE Sensex traded up 13.91 points or 0.05% to close at 28,240.52, while the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty closed 0.08% higher at 8,740.95 points.

Shares of BSE Ltd was listed on its rival NSE today with a price band fixed at Rs 805-806. With less than one hour into the trading session at 0952 hours, BSE’s shares started trading at Rs 1,092.25 per piece.

However, they closed down 1.33% on the 50-scrip index.

BSE's IPO was the first in this year. In 2016, 26 companies got listed as they together garnered Rs 26,000 crore through IPOs, making it the best year for public offers since 2010.

The Nifty 50 dropped to its intraday low at 1141 hours to 8,708.05 from the previous 8.734.25 points. However, the index managed to stay well within the 8,000 point mark.

At 3 pm, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 28,212.42 down 15.19 points, while NSE Nifty was trading at 8,732.05 down 2.20 points.

Top gainers on BSE Sensex today were Sun TV (23.92%), Unitech (16.74%), Union Bank (10.58%), Star (10.55%) and Reliance Communication (8.59%).

Among the losers on the 30-scrip index were Intellect (6.99%), Vedanta Ltd (3.29%), Aban Offshore (2.93%), Cairn (2.72%) and National Aluminium Co Ltd (2.71%).
