The LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) cooking gas of 14.2 kg has become costlier by Rs 50 effective today, a news agency ANI reported on Saturday. The rates of 14.2 kg LPG cylinders were earlier hiked in March 2022.

The gas cylinder is scheduled to cost Rs 999.50 in Delhi and Mumbai, whereas with the recent hike it will cost Rs 1,026 in Kolkata, Rs 1,015.50 in Chennai, and 1,037.50 in Lucknow.

Earlier this month, the price of 19-kg commercial cooking gas (LPG) was also raised by Rs 102.50 per cylinder as global energy prices continue to gain. This was the third hike in commercial LPG prices in three months.

Meanwhile, oil marketing companies, which include Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation, are scheduled to organize more than 5,000 LPG panchayats across the country today to celebrate Ujjwala Diwas.

Apart from experience sharing, aimed at safe and sustained usage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), the oil marketing companies will also make efforts to maximize customer enrolment.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is a popular initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government for social inclusion. Under the scheme, a free LPG connection is provided to every BPL household.
