Lok Sabha Elections Date Announcement 2019: Election Commission today announced General Elections Dates, Assembly Polls Schedule. Elections will start from April 11 and counting will be held on 23rd May.  Elections will be held in seven phases. The EC announced the General Elections 2019 Schedule in New Delhi. After the announcement of the election dates, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force. Earlier on Saturday, the Election Commission had convened a meeting to assess preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections. In the meeting, polls in Jammu and Kashmir was also reportedly discussed. UPDATES | Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Dates Accouncement by Election Commission

6.11 PM:  Elections to Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Odisha to be held simultaneously with the general elections to the Lok Sabha.

6.08 pm: Two-phase polling in Karnataka, Manipur, Rajasthan, Tripura

- Three phase polling in Assam, Chhatisgarh

- Four phase polling in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha

- Five phase polling in Jammu and Kashmir

- Seven phase polling in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal

Model Code of Conduct has come into effect from today, Election Commission said. 

5.10 am: EC says the EVMs with VVPATs will be used across all booths in the Lok Sabha elections. -
