Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has passed away on Sunday at the age of 92.

"Lata Mangeshkar is dead, sister Usha Mangeshkar tells PTI," news agency PTI tweeted from its official Twitter handle. 

 

As per the official announcement from Breach Candy Hospital, the legendary singer passed away at 8.12 AM this morning due to multiple organ failure after COVID-19. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted from his official Twitter handle, "I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerise people."

 

"I consider it my honour that I have always received immense affection from Lata Didi. My interactions with her will remain unforgettable. I grieve with my fellow Indians on the passing away of Lata Didi. Spoke to her family and expressed condolences. Om Shanti," PM Modi further tweeted. 

 

Lata Mangeshkar's body will be taken to her Peddar Road residence Prabhu Kunj for final darshan at 12.30 P.M. At 3.30 P.M, her last journey will leave for Shivaji Park cremation ground in Mumbai where the funeral will be held.
