Kesari box office collection day 1: Despite a fractured release due to Holi celebrations, Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer has got off a great start at the box office. According to film trade analyst and critic Sumit Kadel the film is set for a huge weekend and should eventually enter Rs 200 crore club. In a tweet on Thursday evening, Kadel said that Kesari's day 1 box office collection is at around Rs 21.50 crore. But, it would have been at least Rs 30 crore if the film had not released on festival. Kesari had low occupancy rate in North India in morning shows due to Holi.

"#Kesari Thursday Collection is heading towards- ₹ 18-20 cr nett despite having a fractured release because of Holi celebrations. Real value opening is ₹ 30 cr. HUGE 4 days weekend on cards," Kadel tweeted. In other tweet, he said that the film would appeal to mass audience unlike Akshay's last year releases - Toilet:Ek Prem Katha and Gold.

"#Kesari itni zabardast picture hai agar isne 200 cr ka dhanda nai kiya toh muje bahut dukh hoga. But my heart says kesari will cross the barrier. This time Akshay MASS audience is back which was not the case with Toilet ek prem & Gold. Fingers crossed," he tweeted.

Kadel was full of praise for the film and said that people should take their kids to watch the film as they must know about this glorious chapter in India's history.

"Take everyone in your home to watch this film specially Kids, they must know about this glorious chapter of our history which is unfortunately not in the books. I thank @DharmaMovies & team #kesari for making the his film. Box office se upar hai yeh picture. Salute to SIKHS," he said in another tweet.

The film had opened to 15 to 20 per cent opening in morning shows on Thursday.

"#Kesari opens with approx 15-20% in morning shows where its played, Holi obviously affected the opening. Mumbai opened better than rest of India where holi affect is less compared to other territory. Evening advance booking is looking strong," Kadel tweeted on Thursday morning.

Kesari has released over 3600 screens in India and 600 screens in overseas market taking the overall count to 4200.

Movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh has given positive review to the film. He said that this is Akshay Kumar's best performance till date. "#OneWordReview…#Kesari: OUTSTANDING!
