To curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Kerala Government had imposed a state-wide lockdown on Saturday. The lockdown in the state will be for 9 days with effect from 6 AM on May 8 to May 16.

As per a statement by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, citizens who are constrained to travel during lockdown can apply for an online pass in order to attend some emergency. Citizens can apply for the online pass by visiting the official website at pass.bsafe.kerala.gov.in.

Citizens who have to attend the funeral or wedding or those who have to shift patients, or any other medical emergency can avail of the pass. People who are working for essential services, domestic workers, manual labourers, etc. can also get a travel pass by visiting the website.

While people who need to step out of their house in order to visit a nearby shop for food and people having an appointment for vaccination will have to carry an affidavit stating the reason behind their travel or journey.

Those who want to apply for the online pass can follow the below-mentioned steps:

1. Go to the official e-pass website by clicking on the link- pass.bsafe.kerala.gov.in.

2. You will then have to provide the required details like name, date of birth, address, vehicle number, from where you are travelling, destination, purpose, etc.

3. After filling in all the required details submit the application.

4. Applicants will receive the pass on their mobile phone and can show it to the police while travelling.

On Saturday, May 8, Kerala reported 41,971 new Covid-19 cases and 64 fresh fatalities. The total number of active cases in the state stood at 4,17,101.
