The Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government has started the registration process for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. Under this scheme, the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 2,000 per month to the women head of the family.

This scheme is one of the five election promises made by the Congress in Karnataka. The Karnataka Cabinet had approved the scheme after the Congress-led government came to power.

The registration was opened by Chief Minister Sidaramaiah at an event at Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.

Karnataka Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar on Saturday announced the beginning of registration for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme from July 19.

According to the government, this scheme would benefit nearly 12.8 million families in the state.  

Gruha Lakshmi Scheme: Eligibility, documents required

Only those women whose names are listed as the head of the family on BPL, APL and Antyodaya cards are eligible for the scheme. However, those who are paying income tax or GST are not eligible for this financial assistance. Only one female head from the entire family will get the benefit.

Registration steps for Gruha Lakshmi scheme

Eligible women can register both online by visiting the official portal of the Seva Sindhu Guarantee scheme. To register offline, the applicants need to visit the assigned centre in their locality. The registration can be done at the centres without paying any fee.

Also, state officials will soon start the door-to-door registration process to register the names of the beneficiaries. One can take help for any clarification on the scheme by sending SMS to 8147500500 or by calling on 1902.

1. Above Poverty Line Card, Below Poverty Line Card, or Antyodaya Card

2. Bank-linked Aadhaar card

Step-by-step guide to apply for the scheme

Step 1: Eligible women need to visit the official portal of the Seva Sindhu Guarantee scheme.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Gruha Lakshmi Scheme’ option on the site.

Step 3: Tap on the ‘Click here to apply' option.

Step 4: After filling in all the required details, the beneficiary needs to upload the documents.

Step 5: After uploading documents, submit the application form and note down the application number for future use.
