Kabir Singh box office: There must be a lot of people who would think what is the hype around Kabir Singh! And, they can't be blamed either. There have been multiple releases in the recent times that have earned way more than Rs 70 crore that was minted by the Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer in the opening weekend. But, what people often fail to count are the number of factors that were actually against the film. Kabir Singh is actually a remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy - watched by millions already - in theatres as well as on OTT platforms.

As it turns out in most cases, there are instant comparisons - often going against the remake. But, the film has managed to beat that. Also, Kabir Singh released at a time when the ICC ODI World Cup is going on, keeping people glued to their television sets for most part of the day. Yet, the film was able to get the crowd to the theatres.

More than anything else what could have gone against Kabir Singh was the fact that it is an 'A' rated film, which means not for family audiences. However, it has registered the biggest opening weekend for an 'A' rated film in India beating Indra Kumar's Grand Masti which had earned Rs 40.50 crore in the first three days. Here is the list of other 'A' rated Bollywood films along with their weekend collections -

Kabir Singh – Rs. 70.83 crores

Grand Masti – Rs. 40.50 crores

Satyameva Jayate – Rs. 37.62 crores

Veere Di Wedding – Rs. 36.52 crores

Raaz 3 – Rs. 35.05 crores

The Dirty Picture – Rs. 32.7 crores

Shootout at Wadala – Rs. 30.7 crores

Hate Story 3 – Rs. 26.82 crores

Ragini MMS 2 – Rs. 24.5 crores

Murder 2 – Rs. 22.35 crores

What makes the feat more special is that Shahid Kapoor is not known for doing films like this one. The actor has played the good-romantic boy for most of his career and has only recently started to break the image. Kabir Singh has earned Rs 70.83 crore in the first three days and should add another Rs 17-18 crore on Monday.
