JEE Main January 2020: As the registrations formalities for JEE Main examination 2020 closed on October 10, 2019, the latest data has come out with surprising revelations. According to reports, the data has cited increased number of female candidates for the entrance examination, and the women candidates have shown their tilt towards engineering and architecture entrance examinations to be organised in January 2020. As per data, there is an increase of 15,247 female candidates for JEE Main January 2020, in comparison with the previous year.

The National Testing Agency has for the first time introduced registrations for EWS category students. Out of total applications received, as many as 81,413 have registered under the General EWS Category. This is close to the number of SC category students appearing for the JEE Main 2020 January examination, according to the data.

Of the total number of registrations, about 9.34 lakh students have applied for the first for the two JEE Main 2020 entrance examinations, while 1.38 lakh students have registered for JEE Main January 2020 examination. The number of candidates has increased for the architecture programme. However, there has been a decline in the number of male candidates applying for the entrance examination. Apart from this, there has also been a decrease in the number of SC and ST candidates.

A total of 11.18 lakh candidates have registered for the January 2020 engineering and architecture programmes, compared to 11 lakh applicants in January 2019. For the first time since 2014, the number of registrations for JEE Main examinations have increased after witnessing a continuous decline in the numbers for 5 years.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency has activated the Application Correction window for JEE Main 2020, scheduled in January 2020. The candidates are allowed to correct mistakes in the application form filled earlier by them. The application correction window will remain open until October 20, 2019. The candidates can visit the official website- jeemain.nta.nic.in to correct mistakes in their forms.
