IPL 2020: During the match against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday evening, Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Anrich Nortje was throwing fire at the batsmen. The South African speed merchant clocked a stunning 156.22 kmph against Rajasthan Royals at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Nortje clocked 156.22 kmph against Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler on the 5th delivery of the Royals' run-chase, which was scooped for a four by the right-hander. That is the fastest delivery recorded in IPL history since a speed gun was introduced in the tournament.

In fact, the bowl before that was clocked at 155.2 kmph which was itself a record, only broken few seconds later. Nortje cleaned up Buttler on the very next ball which was clocked at 155.1 kmph. The bowler now has three fastest deliveries in IPL to his name.

Fastest Deliveries in IPL history:

Anrich Nortje 156.2

Anrich Nortje 155.2

Anrich Nortje 154.7

Dale Steyn 154.4

Kagiso Rabada 154.2

Nortje has so far played all eight games for his side Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020 and has been one of the leading wicket-takers for the side along with Rabada. He has taken 10 wickets in 8 matches.

“Really? No idea. Hearing it for the first time,” Nortje replied after the match on being asked about his record-breaking delivery.

“[I’ve] been feeling it the last few days. Nice to see some results. Buttler played them really well. Maybe I was a touch too full. Didn’t expect him to go for a six first ball. Maybe he was expecting something else off that delivery. Stuck to my strength and paid off. Didn’t expect the second ramp.”
