IPL 2020: The high-flying Delhi Capitals have suffered another major setback as their hard-hitting keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has suffered a grade 1 hamstring tear which might see him out of action for at least seven to ten days. The injury comes as a huge blow for Delhi Capitals who have already lost senior Indian players Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma to injuries. Despite this, the team continues to do well and sits on the second spot in the points table, behind Mumbai Indians.

"DC had sent the scan reports to BCCI's medical team as it is mandated by the BCCI for any centrally contracted Indian player. It shows that Pant has a Grade 1 tear," an IPL source privy to the development told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Pant's absence has massively hampers C's team balance as they don’t have an Indian wicketkeeper as back-up. This forced the management to include Alex Carey in place of in-form Shimron Hetmyer. While Ajinkya Rahane came in as a swap for Rishabh Pant. This left them with less fire power towards the bottom half of the inning.

The only option in Capitals' current line-up is big-hitting all-rounder Lalit Yadav, with a strike-rate of 136 plus in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy over 30 games.

Meanwhile, the Australian wicketkeeper batsman Alex Carey believes it is time for the Delhi Capitals to `almost start the tournament again` as they play the second round of IPL 2020 matches starting Wednesday evening when they take on the Rajasthan Royals. Speaking ahead of the match, Carey on Tuesday said his team is definitely gutted due to the injuries in their camp, but are also looking forward to putting it behind them and peaking at the right time.

"We have seen a fair few injuries in the short amount of time we have been here, so I don`t know what that is down to - maybe the lack of matches in the past six months. So yes, its disappointing news coming out of our camp but (we know we have) two great people (Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma) who continue to cheer us on," said Carey.
