Over a dozen people lost their lives and several others were injured when a bus in which they were travelling plunged into the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district.

According to news agency ANI, 15 people have been rescued so far. The injured passengers have been admitted to a nearby hospital for medical aid.

The incident took place in the Khalghat area of Dhar.

Narottam Mishra, Madhya Pradesh Minister, informed that the Maharashtra government bus was going towards Pune from Indore when it skidded off a slippery road and fell into the river.

There were around 50-60 passengers on the bus. Efforts are underway to rescue them, he said.
