Those living in Mumbai taking Indian Railways trains find themselves stuck due to waterlogging in certain stretches during monsoon. Now, to overcome this stalling trains problem, the national transporter has come up with a brand new solution. The Central Railway is reportedly going to roll out a 'waterproof' engine that would be able to run in 12 inches deep water. At present Indian Railways train can run when the water level is only four inches. This situation forces trains to abandon the trip and wait for the water to recede.

According to a Business Standard report, only one engine has been modified yet. The Central Railways will reportedly modify one more engine. This engine can help clear the defective rakes from tracks to resume train services in Mumbai during Monsoon.
During monsoon, often local and other rolling trains get stuck due to waterlogging and it takes a lot of time to clear the lines since engines are not fit to run above 4 inches of water, the report said.
When water level rises, it causes engine failure.
