Considering heavy rush of passengers, Northern Railway Zone of Indian Railways has announced to run as many as 81 special trains for summer holidays to facilitate the rail passengers. These special trains have been announced from May 1, and in coming days, some more trains can be declared in the wake of huge demand. Northern Railway's Public Relations Officer Kultar Singh told Zee Business that from the pool of summer specials, 65 per cent trains have been put into service for eastern areas so far. These trains will cater to demands of rail passengers travelling to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Bengal.

Notably, a large number of special trains were run by Indian Railways for the arrangements for the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Now, these trains are coming back, therefore using their spare rakes, more special trains can be run according to the demand.

Indian Railways operates approximately 12,600 trains daily in the whole country to facilitate about 2.3 million people travelling daily. Sometimes, Indian Railways puts the movement of trains on hold in different parts of the country to improve the infrastructure and its other structures. Due to this, a lot of trains are also cancelled for better operation of trains.

Earlier in February this year, Indian Railways decided to run a weekly Hamsafar train between Anand Vihar railway station and Madhupur railway station, with 12235/12236 number, from 15.02.2019 to facilitate the passengers going to UP and Bihar. 

The air-conditioned 3 Tier train 12235/12236 Madhupur-Anand Vihar terminal weekly Hamsafar Express will stop at Kanpur, Allahabad, Pandit Din Dayal Upadhyay junction (Mughalsarai), Buxar, Ara, Patna, Mokama, Qule, Jhajja and Jasidih stations from both directions.
