Looking to show that all was well with food on the train, IRCTC Group General Manager (east zone) Debasish Chanda said that another 23 passengers travelling by the same Indian Railways train had also tweeted about the quality of food. And these tweets stated that the quality and taste of the food served to them was good.

"The gentleman may not have liked the taste, but the food served to him was definitely not stale," Chanda said. He also added that an inquiry was ordered immediately after the complaint was lodged on Monday.

According to IRCTC officials, the passenger who lodged the complaint usually travels in a higher class. But due to the unavailability of confirmed ticket in the air-conditioned coaches, he had to travel by the sleeper class.
