However, now, you don’t have to worry about losing your identity proofs, Indian Railways announced. Railways said that its staff will accept the soft copies of Driving license and Aadhaar too. To avoid the cases of loss of documents in trains, this new DigiLocker system has been introduced.

A person can now show their Aadhaar and driving license in the form of soft copies by logging into the DigiLocker, a digital storage service operated by the government that helps people to store their official documents on the Cloud.

“If a passenger shows Aadhaar or driving license from the ‘issued documents’ section by logging into his DigiLocker account, the same should be considered as valid proof of identity,” the order said.

Recently, Indian Railways sent an official notification to all zonal Principal Chief commercial managers that Aadhaar and driving license are two identity proofs that will be accepted as valid proof of identity of a passenger in such services.

As a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s digital India movement, DigiLocker has been introduced for storing Aadhaar and driving license and other documents in digital form.

It has also tied up with CBSE so that they could provide digital versions of marksheets of students. The cloud-based platform will help students save their marksheets for future. PAN (Permanent Account Number) can also be saved in DigiLocker
