Even as Indian Railways boasts of having a mammoth network facilitating the daily journey of over 2 crore travellers, there are still many things it needs to do to provide a smooth travelling experience to its passengers. And today, Indian Railways took a step to do exactly that and mirror an airline like feature on trains now. So, next time you travel on the Indian Railways air-conditioned train coach, you just might get this great new experience. Indian Railways will now reportedly provide cheaper, smaller, disposable, takeaway napkins instead of face towels! The Indian Railways move came after it faced criticism over poor quality of its services. 
 
Notably, the new napkins are expected to be much cheaper, as the national transporter will order them in bulk. Face towels currently given to the passengers cost about Rs 3.53 a piece including procurement cost and washing, according to a PTI report.  The bedroll cost is included in the ticket fare AC coach travellers. “The new towels will be environment-friendly and made of cotton to absorb more water,” an Indian Railways official was quoted as saying.

In case the journey is too long then two such napkins per bedroll will be provided. Earlier, the Indian Railways ordered all zones to provide nylon blankets to those travelling in AC coaches. The Indian Railways is, for the past few years, making efforts to bring many changes to make rail journey more comfortable and hygienic.

Indian Railway earlier, revamped toilets across its networks. The national transporter also earlier opened options for wide range of foods for passengers. Now, passengers can order foods from renowned brands while onboard. The national transporter is also  installing water ATMs for providing clean waters to its passengers at very nominal prices. Besides that the Indian Railways is also introducing various state-of-the-art technologies to ensure passengers safety.
