For Indian Railways passengers, one more facility has been added to provide them better travel experience and that too, being heard immediately in case they find that food served is not hygienic or coaches are not cleaned or even that train is delayed or running very late. Railways passengers can lodge their complaint in real time through Real time Monitoring System (RTMS).

Indian Railways will provide this facility through a software called ‘eDrishti’, which has been developed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS). The software has also been connected with the base kitchens of the Indian Rail Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC) following complaints regarding the quality of food served on trains.

Indian Railways has unveiled this software to help Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to keep a track of punctuality of trains as well as freight and passenger earnings – and much more – from anywhere in the country. The minister will reportedly be able to keep a track of all information related to Indian Railways.

A senior Railway Ministry official told IANS that the Minister can track any information with just a click of the mouse — whether from his office or while on the move. The Minister will also be able to know at any given point of time the day’s freight and passenger earnings, freight loading and unloading, punctuality, progress of major projects, and public grievances.

Further, the movement of trains across the country, and details of railway stations and many more informations will be in the reach of Railway minister, the report said.

Since the software will be connected with the base kitchens of the IRCTC, the Minister will be able to monitor the goings on in IRCTC kitchens through live video.
