Your troubles are set to increase if, during a rail journey, you travel without a ticket, with too much luggage, in another class with a sleeper or general ticket, spread garbage at the station or smoke. Railways has started a special campaign to curb these activities.

More than Rs 38 lakh recovered in fine 

Northern Railway has run a ticket checking campaign in five of its divisions Lucknow, Moradabad, Delhi, Ferozepur and Ambala. During this campaign, on August 21, 3780 and on August 22, 4871 people were caught and they were fined. So far, the Railways has received a fine of more than Rs 38 lakhs in this campaign.

Deepak Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, said this campaign is going on in five divisions of Northern Railway. In this campaign, apart from catching passengers without tickets, the action is being taken against those found spreading garbage or smoking at the station and in trains. It is also being investigated whether passengers are misusing the emergency quota illegally.
Fine for making trains, stations unclean

In the Delhi Division of Railways, a mega ticket checking campaign was carried out On 22.08.2019 on trains going towards Old Delhi and Gurgaon stations as well as Delhi-Rewari section and Faridabad and Sonipat. In this campaign, a total of 162 cases of without ticket travel, irregular tickets, unbooked luggage were found. A total of Rs 5.16 lakh was recovered as fine. Also, 49 people were fined Rs 16,320 under Section 145B of the Railway Act for spreading garbage in the train or at the station.
