Indian Railways has announced to run the New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express with Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches for about two months. The railways said in a notification dated April 10 that the Shatabdi express connecting Delhi and Amritsar will operate with LHB set of coaches for the next two months. New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express number 12031 and 12032 is a weekly express and runs on every Thursday.

While the Indian Railways has been replacing old ICF style coaches with the modern LHB coaches, the New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express is being fitted with LHB coaches due to the scarcity of conventional coaches with the Northern Railway.

Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) design coaches are lighter in weight, have a higher carrying capacity, higher speed potential, increased lifespan and better safety features as compared to ICF design coaches. The railways had decided not to manufacture ICF design coaches as only LHB coaches are being manufactured by railways production units since April 2018. 

New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express Route

The train has a total of 8 stoppages including New Delhi and Amritsar. The train stops at Ambala Cant Jn, Rajpura Jn, Ludhiana Jn, Phagwara Jn, Jalandhar City, and Beas while running in both the direction.

New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express Time

The train leaves from New Delhi at 7.20 am and arrives at Amritsar Junction at 1.45 pm.  In return, it leaves from Amritsar at 4.50 pm and reaches Delhi at 11.05 pm.

New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express Fare

The full fare of the express from New Delhi to Amritsar is Rs 1,625 for Executive Chair Class while it is Rs 1,025 for AC Chair car. The fare includes catering charge of Rs 165.
