Indian equity market indices opened flat in early trade session on Friday.

BSE Sensex which had closed at 27,942.11 points on Thursday, was trading down 0.13% at 9:42 am IST. While, on National Stock Exchange, Nifty opened at 8,565.15 points, up 0.15 points

Shares of Infosys Ltd. edged up 0.23% and was trading at Rs 1,178.50 per share, prior to disclosure of its first quarter results. 

Among the top gainers were Fortis Healthcare (4.72%), Titan Co. (4.28.35%), Bank of Baroda (2.44%) and Punjab National Bank (2.29%).

While top losers were NTPC (4.16%), SRF. Ltd (1.49%), Rural Electrific (1.14%) and GlaxoSmithKline Ph (1.12%).

Rupee strengthened for the third straight day, rising 6 paise, to trade at over a fresh one-month high of 66.85 against the dollar today on sustained selling of the US currency by exporters and banks amid firm domestic equities, a PTI report stated.
