In the edible oil segment, to make India Aatmanirbhar, the government has taken several steps which includes oil palm mission for palm oil and steps for soya oil, mustard oil, Swami Ramdev said.

Swami Ramdev said that he expected that in 5-7 years, India will be in a position to not need palm oil imports from countries like Indonesia and Malaysia.

No other PM has worked so much for the cause of farmers, he opined.

Talking about his own company Ruchi Soya, he said that it will be the biggest contributor towards this.

On the announcement of agriculture cess, Swami Ramdev said that there is a need to build cold storages for storing perishable items like fruit and vegetables. The government can build cold chains with this money, he added.

The money collected can also be utilised for building training centres for farmers. Agriculture is not limited to just farming but also animal husbandry. Infrastructure needs to be developed in this segment too.
