IMD Weather Forecast: The people of the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra must pay attention as there is some important weather update for them. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a clear warning on its part that the Konkan areas including the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra including Mumbai are likely to receive heavy rain for the next five days.

The IMD has put up a series of tweets from its official Twitter handle regarding the weather condition in these areas. IMD tweeted, "An off-shore trough at mean sea level runs from Maharashtra coast to Karnataka coast. It is likely to persist during next 5-6 days and a shear zone runs roughly along Lat. 17°N in mid tropospheric levels and likely to persists during next 2 days. Under their influence:"

 

IMD also tweeted the influence of this 'off-shore trough'. It tweeted, "Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely to continue over west coast and adjoining inland areas during next 5-6 days. Isolated extremely heavy falls also very likely over Konkan & Goa & adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka during 18th-19th; over Gujarat region on 18th July, 2021."

 

So far, due to the rain, several lakes around Mumbai have overflowed. More than 20 people have been killed in incidents of landslides on Sunday's rain. Now the government is also on alert following the warning from the IMD about the rains for the next five days. Furthermore, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is holding meetings with all the officials.

The IMD has also issued yellow alert for heavy rain in 11 districts of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The Press Trust of India (PTI) has also tweeted about this warning of the IMD from its official Twitter handle. The tweet said, "India Meteorological Department issues yellow alert for heavy rainfall at isolated places in Madhya Pradesh's 11 districts, including Rewa and Damoh, till Monday morning."

 

In addition to that the IMD has forecasted intense rainfall over northern India from July 18, 2021, till July 21, 2021, and over the west coast till July 23, 2021. The IMD has also tweeted about this from its official Twitter handle. The tweet said, "Press Release on Intense spell of rainfall activity over northern parts of India during 18th -21st July and along the west coast till 23rd July, 2021."

 

An ANI report states that several parts of Delhi received incessant rainfall on Monday morning. According to the IMD prediction, in the wee hours of Monday, a thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain is likely in Delhi and its adjoining places including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.
