Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has witnessed a good placement season this year, as of now. During Phase I of Campus Placements for 2018-19, 80 companies made as many as 213 offers. The first phase of placement concluded on Saturday, December 22, 2018. This compares favorably with the same time last year (2017-18) when 191 students (including PPOs) had been placed in 68 companies.

A total of 418 students registered for Phase I of placements, held between 1st and 22nd December 2018. IIT Hyderabad students have already accepted 17 pre-placement offers (PPOs) from companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Schlumberger, Qualcomm, Goldmansachs, Swiggy, Electronic Arts and DeShaw. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) also recruited two students during 2018-19.

Prominent first-time recruiters that came for Phase I Placements include Softbank, Mercari, Toyota Research, Toshiba INC. TSMC (Taiwan semicondcutors), Yokogawa electric corporation, Annotation Inc..Denso, Barclays and Oppo. Traditional recruiters include Flipkart, Amazon, Samsung, Xilinx, Qualcomm, Maruti, ISRO, GE and TCS.

Speaking about the Phase I placements of 2018-19, Dr. Amit Acharyya, Acting Faculty-in-charge of Placements, IIT Hyderabad, said, “I am very happy to see that the demand for IITH students of all levels be it UG, PG or PhDs, are at its peak. So many students including the PhDs are getting offers from companies within the country as well as abroad. I’m happy to inform that the TSMC has offered many PhD research scholars also from IITH. Many Japanese companies have shown their interest in our students and more than 10 Japanese companies visited the campus this year.”

"There were some Pre Placement offers as well to some of our students. All in all, just in last three weeks, IITH saw overwhelming responses from the industries as well as PSU in recruiting the students from the IITH. Our Placement team along with the students' volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure every process goes smoothly. We also received an enormous amount of support from our Administration and our faculty colleagues who helped facilitated the Placement drive," he added.

The top recruiters (in terms of no of job offers) during 2018-19 include:
TCS - 15 offers
Mathworks - 12 offers
L&T Constructions - 09 offers

This year also saw the total number of international offers go up to 22 by the end of Phase I as compared to 8 for whole of last academic year (2017-18). The Top Five International recruiters (in terms of job offers) during 2018-19 include:

III. Yokogawa - 03 offers
IV. Softbank - 03 offers
