Residents of Delhi can now get 40 government services home-delivered. These services include driving licence, caste certificate, ration card, birth certificate, marriage certificate, water connection. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday launched the doorstep delivery of public services. Kejriwal said that over 30 more services will be included in the project in the next one month and the number will rise to 100 in two-three months. "It is a revolutionary work in governance. Delhiites will now not need to stand in queues in government's department...It will save people's time. Citizens will also not need to pay money to touts to get their work done," Kejriwal said.

How to get free services

Residents of Delhi can dial 1076 to place a request for doorstep delivery of services that will be provided from 8 am to 10 pm. The call centre to facilitate delivery of services will function round the clock. To implement the scheme, the Delhi government has hired a private company - VFS Global Services Pvt Ltd. According to PTI, As many as 66 mobile sahayaks (facilitators) have so far been hired through the company to set up a call centre. The Mobile Sahayaks will be equipped with all necessary equipment such as biometric devices and a camera.

While placing a service request on 1076, the resident will have to provide her/his details. Following this, the agency will assign a mobile sahayak, who will visit the applicant's residence and get the required details and documents. Each 11 district of Delhi will have six mobile sahayaks and one supervisor.

The doorstep delivery of services will be provided for an extra fee of Rs 50. Delhi government is spending Rs 12 crore on the implementation of the doorstep delivery of services.
