Indian Railways' move to become consumer friendly has added one more chapter by introducing a new option on its website to help people get their refund of their cancelled ticket. The new website -refunds.indianrail.gov.in launched by Ministry of Railways will extend help to lakhs of people track their refund status of the cancelled ticket. This new tool is likely to become a blessing for public in solving their problems. 
 
Railways took this initiative to put and end to perennial complaints of people of not getting their refund for their cancelled tickets. Passengers now can track the refund status of the cancelled tickets in real-time just by logging on to the new website. 
 
"Indian Railways tickets can be cancelled across ticket counters, IRCTC website and through railway enquiry number 139," Ved Prakash, Director, Publicity (DIP), Ministry Of Railways said, adding that a passenger can also file TDR in cases when promised facilities like non-functioning ACs is not available during the journey or for diversion of the route. The issue of Ticket Deposit Receipt is resolved within a week or two. 
 
Accordingly, the TDR filed at PRS or Railway ticket counter can be checked online at the Railway Coaching Refund website. Under the Indian Railways new initiative, one can check the status of refund through options given below:
 
1. Just put your PNR number and Date of Journey
2. Also put your refund registration number
 
The new website will also facilitate a passenger to check the refund status of TDR that was filed at Railway Ticket Counter or PRS.

Earlier, the passengers, who filed the TDR, has to visit the ticket counter to check or to get their refund. To punt an end to this cumbersome process, the Railway Ministry has reportedly decided to expand the service to check the status of other tickets cancelled of any type.
