Have you taken a Railway ticket from the counter and now want to cancel it? There is an easy procedure to cancel your ticket.  A ticket taken from counter can be cancelled (including return journey tickets) between 24 hours and up to 4 hours prior to train departure and up to 30 minutes for RAC/waitlisted tickets before the scheduled departure time. Here is how to cancel PRS counter tickets through IRCTC website and get back your money:

1. Click on the Counter Ticket Cancellation option on the IRCTC home page. 
2. You have to enter PNR number, train number along with Captcha once the page open.
3. Select check box to confirm that rules and procedure are read
4. After you click on submit, an OTP will be sent to mobile number given at the time of booking
5. Enter the received OTP and click submit.
6. After the OTP is validated PNR details will be displayed on the screen.
7. After verifying the details Click on ‘Cancel Ticket’ for full cancellation. Refund amount due will be displayed on the screen.
8. An SMS will be sent with PNR and refund details. 
9. Collect refund amount from journey commencing station or nearby satellite PRS locations. 

Terms and conditions for availing of refund: 
1. You have to cancel tickets cancelled (including return journey tickets) before 24 hours of scheduled train departure time.
2. Refund of fare can be collected on submission of original PRS counter ticket of Indian Railways
3. Refund of cancelled PRS counter tickets through IRCTC website at present is permitted only at the journey commencing station or nearby satellite PRS locations
4. Check the convenience of collecting refund from journey commencing station before cancelling your ticket
5. Ticket ancellation is permitted round the clock.
