IRCTC e-ticket cancellation charges and rules: Have you booked Indian Railways tickets online and want to cancel them? You can do it easily through the IRCTC website - irctc.co.in. E-tickets can be cancelled till the passengers' chart is prepared. However, the cancellation of an e-ticket is not allowed on the railway counters. If a user wants to cancel their e-ticket, they can do so online before the chart preparation. The chart is usually prepared on the previous night.

IRCTC refund rules for Indian Railways e-tickets:
1. The passengers can logon to www.irctc.co.in 
2. They have to go to "Booked Tickets" link
 3. Have to select the ticket which he or she wants to cancel
 4. Cancellation would be confirmed online and the refund would be credited to the account used for booking for normal internet tickets 

For partial cancellation of ab e-ticket, the user has to ensure that a fresh e-reservation slip (Electronic Reservation Slip) is printed separately as done for the original ticket. If a confirmed ticket is cancelled more than 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, flat cancellation charges of Rs 240 for AC first-class/executive class will be deducted from the user's account.  For AC tier 2/first class, Rs 200 and for AC Tier 3/AC chair car/AC 3 economy,  Rs 180 will be charged. For sleeper class and second class tickets, Rs120 and Rs 60 are levied as cancellation charges.

If a confirmed ticket is cancelled within 48 hours and up to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, cancellation charges will be 25 percent of the fare. If a passenger cancels a ticket before less than 12 hours and up to four hours of the scheduled departure of a train, 50 percent of the fare will be charged as cancellation charges.
